We have heard people called \"Preppers\", or \"What Iffers\". People have been talking about some sort of \"End of the World\" scenario, for decades. Even the United States government has many bunkers around the country, some of which have been bought by ordinary citizens and even preppers. Some of us are concerned something may happen sooner than later. I have heard more and more people talking about the possibility of an imminent disaster. Some people worry about different possible scenarios. For example; economic collapse, societal collapse, civil unrest, electromagnetic pulse, weather destruction, war, fire, nuclear attacks, terrorist attacks, fuel shortages, pandemics, geomagnetic reversal, etc.\n\nMany people are preparing for these scenarios of which they are concerned. It is estimated in the United States of America, approximately ten percent of the population are Preppers to one degree or another. No one knows if or when, one or more problems will occur. There is no way to predict a specific occurrence or time factor, and my crystal ball broke, so I cannot help with your prognostication. The best we can do is to be prepared for any eventuality. This is why I personally (and many others) believe an underground concrete bunker is the best idea. As I will explain, this Bunker will give you the best protection possible for the most scenarios.\n\nOne need not be a conspiracy theorist to be concerned. People may think \"Doomsday Preppers\", or \"What Iffers\", as we are often called, are \"nut jobs.\" However, when TSHTF, we will be the ones who others will come to, since we will be prepared.\nCommon Design Flaws\n\nSome of the problems I have seen with bunker designs are:\n\n There is not enough food storage\n There is not enough water storage\n The bunker is not deep enough underground to protect from radiation or chemical contamination\n The bunker is not designed to be able to withstand the amount of pressure from the tonnage of dirt above\n The air circulation is not adequate\n The air is not adequately filtered for NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) contamination\n The water is not sufficiently filtered\n There are no accommodations for pets.\n There is no accommodation (or insufficient accommodation) for waste and elimination.\n Bunkers are too crowded and claustrophobic for long term occupancy.\n Security is woefully inadequate.\n There is no adequate plan for replenishing the water\n There is no adequate plan for replenishing the food\n Steel shipping containers do not supply the protection needed, nor are they able to be buried deep enough underground for adequate protection.\n There is no escape plan\n There is no second exit\n What about electricity?\n No plan for backups\n No bug-out kits prepared\n No drills planned\n Occupants are not knowledgeable about nuclear protection.\n\nIn my design, I have tried to counter these challenges and make a Bunker that is workable, livable for the long term, comfortable and realistic.\n\n\nJewish People:\n\nThere are many Jewish people who are also preppers. In the book, I have included much information that is specific for Jews.", "author": "Ben Jakob", "slug": "doomsday-bunker-book-your-complete-guide-to-designing-and-living-in-an-underground-concrete-bunker-128014-9780990589112-ben-jakob", "thumbnail_image": "//redshelf-images.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com/thumbnail/9780990589112.jpg", "default_thumbnail_image": "//redshelf-images.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com/thumbnail/default_book_thumbnail.jpg", "product_type": "book", "product_id": "128014", "product_url": "/app/ecom/book/128014/doomsday-bunker-book-your-complete-guide-to-designing-and-living-in-an-underground-concrete-bunker-128014-9780990589112-ben-jakob", "bisac_codes": [ "REF031000", "SEL039000" ], "items_count": null, "identifiers": { "ISBN13": "9780990589112", "ISBN10": "0990589110", "EISBN13": "9780990589112" }, "drm": null, "cover_image": null, "default_cover_image": null, "book_type": null }, "relationships": { "lowest_offering": { "data": { "type": "offerings", "id": "00010015250078" } } } }, { "type": "Product", "id": "00010000128013", "attributes": { "name": "Saving the Unicorn's Horn", "subtitle": "", "description": "What can you do when your closest friend lives hundreds of years away?\n\nJoe Hopkins is staying in York for October half-term. A strange woman rescues him, heals a deep burn on his chest overnight, heightens his sense of smell and gives him the Francis-power of communing with nature. Nola is a wild supernatural being who lies about being a teacher and calls him a badass philosopher. She's fallen out of favor for being too human, lost her wings and seeks to change him to redeem herself in the eyes of the forces above. Besieged by the paparazzi, aware that he's under the spell of a mischievous angel, David struggles to deal with a new and unusual way of life.", "author": "Roger Thomas Pepper", "slug": "davide-128000-9780986077654-roger-thomas-pepper", "thumbnail_image": "//redshelf-images.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com/thumbnail/9780986077654.jpg", "default_thumbnail_image": "//redshelf-images.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com/thumbnail/default_book_thumbnail.jpg", "product_type": "book", "product_id": "128000", "product_url": "/app/ecom/book/128000/davide-128000-9780986077654-roger-thomas-pepper", "bisac_codes": [ "FIC000000", "FIC061000" ], "items_count": null, "identifiers": { "ISBN13": "9780986077654", "ISBN10": "0986077658", "EISBN13": "9780986077654" }, "drm": null, "cover_image": null, "default_cover_image": null, "book_type": null }, "relationships": { "lowest_offering": { "data": { "type": "offerings", "id": "00010015250196" } } } }, { "type": "Product", "id": "00010000127996", "attributes": { "name": "Our Crumbling Ivory", "subtitle": "", "description": "It's Chester Lansing's final year as an undergrad, and he's more than anything ready to put the rote classwork behind him, to begin his Graduate program and become a teacher. Her parents named her after one, a bird with a distinctive song worthy of poetry. With her wings clipped by circumstance, Mavis spent six years of her life grounded and her dream of soaring flight almost forgotten. Unexpectedly, Mavis discovers she has a choice: accept a life that is ordinary or be among the one percent that shine. It is a long way to the top in the Australian music industry and more than a name needs to change in order to succeed. It is a grueling challenge with exhausting demands and subtle traps for the uninitiated. Can Mavis make it? Can she build a better life for herself and her son? Can she have it all? Readership (ages 16+): Every generation that has faced life's challenges and who has tried to find the balance between career, parenthood, and having it all. The themes are discovery, triumphing against the odds, reinvention, disparate families, parenting, friendship, and the nature of love; themes that resonate with all ages. Editorial Review: Christine M Knight's second novel LIFE SONG is a joyfully triumphant confection that resonates with layers of interest. The core of this novel centres on Mavis Mills' resolve to be in charge of her life and captain of her creativity. It is a story that celebrates the power of belief in oneself and of friends and supporters. In terms of its chick-lit appeal, LIFE SONG ticks all the boxes. It is a blend of wry humour and vivid storytelling and the outcome is satisfying without being cloying. There is sizzle but no awkward sex scenes to navigate. Relationships are deftly drawn and realistically portrayed reflecting the passion with which people live life. The story draws from three generations of women who learn to make their own brave, sometimes foolish, sometimes late-applied choices to achieve a better life. Male characters are as diverse and complex as the female characters. LIFE SONG is a story which can be read as an adventure with a wonderfully funny, distinctly visual narrating style. It can also be reflected on as a snapshot of Australian lifestyle and culture in the 1990s. The author has some great insights about the emergence of women who lead their own bands. This is the sort of novel that delights on a day when the sofa calls. Its appeal is universal. To paraphrase Ian 'Molly' Meldrum - readers should do themselves a favour and go out and buy it. This is a winner for booksellers.", "author": "Christine M.
