                "description": "Synopsis\n\nFor five years, two murders have lain unsolved and nearly forgotten in the police vault in the quiet little burg of Frederick, Maryland. Until a young lawyer turns up dead, and the familiar pattern of a the Coworker killer plunges the sleepy northern town back into darkness. As the body count begins to rise, it soon becomes chillingly obvious that this time the killer has no intention of stopping. \n\nLacking a suspect, hounded for answers by the ravening media, the police have nowhere to turn but Nate Castle, College teacher by day, locally-renowned PI by night. The case of the faceless Coworker murders is the most demanding of his career. Nate is thrust into a spotlight he's been avoiding for the past decade. Somewhere out there is a predator against which Nate is the only defense, but the troubled detective has his own demons to fight. Haunted by regret, crippled by the bottle, Nate stands alone in the darkness, challenging a foe he cannot see.\n\nThen the Coworker makes a small but critical mistake. And that's when-all hell breaks loose.",

A disorder, which should have been fairly easy to diagnose and treat, leaves this young mother in a shocking and grim state for twenty years. Throughout her life there were warning signs, but nothing could have prepared her, her family or her doctors for the traumatic episodes she was to encounter. Deborah Hurley speaks frankly about what it felt like to lose all ability to feel, and think clearly, and how she fought desperately to live for the sake of her children.",

                "subtitle": "The true story of a Marine's experience on the front lines of the Gulf War",
                "description": "This book is a true account of my experience as a Marine\nin the Gulf War. I decided to tell my story in hopes of\ndeveloping, in the reader, a deeper respect for America's\nveterans by revealing the extreme mental and physical sacrifices\na soldier must make during war. I want to show how our\nown government, while fulfilling our duty, treated us, how\npeople get through such experiences and what those people\ndo to keep their sanity.\nFor me it was music and religion. I lived vicariously in\nthe songs; they allowed me to mentally release pent up emotions\nand often, at times, the music would take me away to\na place where there was no danger. Belief in a supreme\nbeing helped me to also cast away my fears. I had God to\nconfide in and it was a way to help make me feel like I had\nsome control over my destiny. It also helped me to accept\ndeath.\nI served two tours in the Gulf War. Marines did not have\nthe luxury of knowing that when our tour of duty was over\nwe could go home. We were there for the duration, no matter\nhow long that took. As the Commandant of the Marine\nCorps put it so gracefully in the Saudi desert on a blistering\nhot October day, \"Your head and your ass are in my corner\nand you will go home when I say you can go home!\" War is\npure hell, no matter how quickly it ends or how long it lasts.\nEver since I came home from the Gulf War I have had to\ndeal with hearing things like \"Oh, that was an easy war\" or\n\"They didn't even fight, you guys had it easy.\" People kept\ntelling me \"Oh, that wasn't a real war.\" Compared to other\nwars, such as World War I, World War II, Korea, and more\nrecently Vietnam, the loss of life, on our side, was far less.\nHowever, no war is easy and losing one life, let alone a few\nhundred, is one too many. I hope to dispel these perceptions\nand show what really happened in the Gulf War. The fact of\nthe matter is, as General Norman Schwartzkopf put it, \"It's not\nthat the Iraqi's didn't fight, it's that our troops are just that\ndamn good!\"\nI hope to show the realities of war, which can be quite\nunnerving and gut wrenching. Realities that were so\npainful they have forced grown men to wound and even\nkill themselves just to escape. Memories that cause them to\ndo drugs, drink and completely defile themselves for a\nrelease from the pain, if only for a few hours. I want to\nreveal the stark differences between what really happens in\nwar and what is reported to the American people. We all\nhad to change and adapt to our situation overseas in order\nto survive, greatly changing all of our lives once we\nreturned home. As the Marine Corps always says, \"Adapt,\novercome, and improvise!\" In the past I had to apply this\nesoteric phrase to many enigmatic cycles of my life in\norder to overcome them.\nBack when I was contemplating writing this book I was\ntaken by a quote from the movie Platoon, by Oliver Stone. At\nthe end of the movie, Charlie Sheen's character reflects on\nhis experiences and says, \"Those of us who make it home\nhave an obligation to rebuild again and to teach the world\nwhat we know.\" With this book, I hope to achieve this. Those\nof us, who do make it, have made it for a reason. I think, for\nme, that reason is the one so poignantly stated above; I have\nan obligation to rebuild and to teach the world what I know.\nFinally, I have included most of the letters I wrote home\nwhile I was in the Gulf War. They contain many grammatical\nerrors and misspellings. This is because I included them in\nthis book exactly the way I wrote them in 1990/1991.",

Based on the highly effective Leadership, Creativity, and Power mindware, it teaches tools of self-management, communication, and leadership that can be utilized immediately and perfected with practice. Using what you learn here will enable you to unleash the hidden value in the human beings with whom you work and yourself. \nYou will learn how to...\nCreate and deliver an inspiring future of increasing value by causing effective \naction in yourself and others while maintaining an integrated and balanced life.\nDecrease drama, waste, and fear and increase valuable results. \nIntervene into ineffective meetings to produce action and results.\nGet the results you want from others with high velocity and high quality.\nWork effectively across organizational and cultural borders.\nEffectively manage your career limiting reactions and behaviors.\nThese abilities and many more are available through acquiring Subtle POWER.\n\nWhen addressing the question of what constitutes an effective leader, Gabriel Sakakeeny offers \"Your job as a leader is to create and deliver an inspiring future of increasing value by causing effective action in yourself and others.\" At a time when many businesses, from multinational corporations to start-ups, are realizing that the old paradigm of human resources management must yield to something more productive and successful, Sakakeeny's new book, Subtle Power, offers a fresh, reality-based collaboration structure founded on accountability, self-empowerment, and effective communication. With roots in the Human Potential Movement, Sakakeeny asks the reader to pause and reflect on language of tone, intellect, and spirit; language which has lost its integrity from unconscious overuse. He sets out a course for persons in positions of trust and influence to become \"unconsciously competent in the art of leadership.\" How does a leader go about this transformation? Sakakeeny's methodology is the result of a unique body of experience blending over thirty years in business as a C-level executive, entrepreneur, inventor, engineer, marketer, and consultant with forty years of leading symphonic orchestras. Subtle Power contains a toolbox of logically organized foundational concepts. Building on these, he expertly layers ever more detailed ideas using familiar stories and helpful analogies to provide a succinct narrative. All the while, the chapters of Subtle Power are structured so that, as concepts are introduced and explored, previous points are integrated as a means to introduce subsequent ideas. Chapters conclude with a summary and exercise, Think On This, wherein the reader can begin to practically apply concept information to new competencies. By exploring foundational frameworks such as The Fields of Existence and The Five Modes of Intention, along with several other key constructs, leaders and aspiring leaders receive guidance and wisdom on the way to becoming intentional, conscious, and ultimately happier and more successful leaders.",

All of us had been waiting for this moment for months. Our fourth child was soon to arrive ...This is the story of 18-year-old Kartya Wunderle, one of 64 babies flown out of Taiwan in the early 80s. Babies stolen from their mothers or sold by their families and adopted out to unsuspecting overseas parents. At 15, Kartya began to use heroin in an attempt to take away the pain of not knowing who she was and where she came from. Her distraught parents watched their beautiful daughter slowly slip away from them, spiralling towards a tragic and almost inevitable conclusion. Out of desperation and fired by an unconditional love for her daughter, Nola Wunderle resolved to find Kartya's birth mother and change the ending to Kartya's story. An amazing search for one woman in a country of 22 million began. The result was nothing short of miraculous, and made Kartya a national hero in her homeland. Lost Daughter is a moving testament to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit, one that will humble and inspire all who read it.",

                "name": "Why Am I Still Single? A Tough Love Guide for Single Women",
                "subtitle": "",
                "description": "How many times have you listened to a friend or coworker drone on about her disastrous love life, completely baffled by the fact that she is still single while you politely bite your tongue to keep from revealing what you're really thinking-Really?' Cause boy do I know why you're single, lady! \n\nIt's obvious to you and everyone else in her life why she can't keep a man. After all, if you had a Y-chromosome (or batted for the other team), you wouldn't date her either. She is too [Fill in the blank]. Clingy? Depressing? Obsessive? Slutty? Self-absorbed? Insecure? But of course, you could never tell her that. No one can. Not her mom, sister, or best friend. She would hate you if you did. Or maybe you are the annoying friend or coworker. Maybe you've been so busy venting about your last breakup that you missed those glazed over expressions on your friends' faces. Did they mumble things like \"He wasn't good enough for you\" and \"There are plenty of fish in the sea\"? Maybe that's code for \"Pardon me. Sorry to interrupt. Could you please hand me that fork? I want to jab it in my eye.\" \n\nWhether you're the lonely one on date night or your drama-filled friend is, this book will help you to arm yourself with information for your next relationship or to learn new phrases for that heart to heart talk with your girl who is tired of the single life. It's time to cut the crap. It's time for advice from someone who doesn't sugar coat and who has listened attentively for more than 20 years to her male friends vent about what women do that drives them crazy. She isn't a girly girl dishing advice. She isn't a man trying to explain to women why they suck. She is a woman interpreting a man's perspective to help women who don't love the single life to get back out there and be a better partner. You'll find anecdotes, explanations, homework, and even quotes from the author's male friends about each type of woman discussed. Are you ready to take a good hard look at what women really do to sabotage their own happiness?",
