"description": "The only instrument that measures behaviors associated with emotionally intelligent leadership The Emotionally Intelligent Leadership for Students: Inventory is an evidence-based assessment of the capacities of emotionally intelligent leadership (EIL). Research that spans the globe has demonstrated that there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership. For the second edition, the authors have conducted original studies, yielding a substantial revision that better reflects the world of emotionally intelligent leadership and will be transformative for students of all backgrounds. First, this 57-item assessment measures how often students engage in behaviors that align with emotionally intelligent leadership. Then, the reflection portion walks students through the process of analyzing and understanding their results, giving them concrete suggestions for how to explore and improve their emotionally intelligent leadership. The inventory reflects 19 EIL capacities supported by recent studies A section on guided interpretation allows students to determine next steps to help them prepare to become effective leaders Guidance for reflection and analysis of the results introduces learning opportunities that align with unique learning styles Use the inventory along with Emotionally Intelligent Leadership: A Guide for Students and its Student Workbook for an immersive and transformative educational experience. Students will appreciate the opportunity to learn more about themselves as they reflect on their experiences as learners and their own leadership journeys.",

This book is an in-depth, practical and accessible guide to the models that are used for pricing and the strategies that are used for hedging financial instruments, and to the markets in which they trade. Across all four volumes there are approximately 300 numerical and empirical examples, 400 graphs and figures and 30 case studies many of which are contained in interactive Excel spreadsheets available from the the accompanying CD-ROM . Empirical examples and case studies specific to this volume include: Duration-Convexity approximation to bond portfolios, and portfolio immunization; Pricing floaters and vanilla, basis and variance swaps; Coupon stripping and yield curve fitting; Proxy hedging, and hedging international securities and energy futures portfolios; Pricing models for European exotics, including barriers, Asians, look-backs, choosers, capped, contingent, power, quanto, compo, exchange, abest-ofa and spread options; Libor model calibration; Dynamic models for implied volatility based on principal component analysis; Calibration of stochastic volatility models (Matlab code); Simulations from stochastic volatility and jump models; Duration, PV01 and volatility invariant cash flow mappings; Delta-gamma-theta-vega mappings for options portfolios; Volatility beta mapping to volatility indices.",

Cutting-edge findings in neuroscience are translated into language that clients will understand, and sidebars provide therapists more detailed information relating to particular disorders. With a holistic approach that incorporates mental, spiritual, and physical skills, knowledge, and exercises, this book provides a clear, complete resource for incorporating neuroscience into therapy. Case examples illustrate how the material can be used with different types of clients and situations, and sample dialogues and client handouts help therapists easily incorporate these techniques into their practice. Many clients forget that there is a biological basis for everything the brain does, and the ways that activity manifests everyday a good or bad, healthy or dysfunctional, the very core of human consciousness boils down to a series of electrical impulses. This book helps therapists bring neuroscience into therapy, to teach clients how to work with their brain's innate processes to reinforce progress and achieve healthier outcomes. Learn techniques for dealing with client resistance factors Discover phrases and memory aides that help clients apply what they've learned in therapy Facilitate higher client motivation to engage in the therapeutic process Teach clients about the brain's relevance to their particular problem Find tools for explaining the role of diet, exercise, and sleep in mental health When a client's treatment revolves around eliminating harmful thought patterns or behaviors, the therapeutic process can feel like a battle against their own brain. By bringing neuroscience into the treatment plan, therapists can shift the client's perspective to a more collaborative mindset, focused on the positive aspects of change.A Brain2Brain: Enacting Client Change Through the Persuasive Power of Neuroscience provides the guidance therapists need to chart a clearer path to good mental health.",

"description": "Pre-Calculus is the academic step before the incorporation of Calculus principles applied to real and imagined universal problems. A student entering a Pre-Calculus environment should be familiar with mathematics as a language and skill useful in both defined and imagined spaces. Pre-Calculus introduces mathematicians to a compendium of symbols and universal concepts including line tangentials, maximums and minimums, logarithmic line equations, the Karp Reduction, norms and lengths, symmetric differences and the occurrence of projected spaces. Pre-Calculus courses dedicate considerable amounts of time and resources to help students become familiar with the language and standard nomenclature of advanced Calculus and its applications.",

"description": "<p>Planetary spaces such as the poles, the oceans, the atmosphere, and subterranean regions captured the British imperial imagination. Intangible, inhospitable, or inaccessible, these blank spaceswhat Siobhan Carroll calls \"atopias\"existed beyond the boundaries of known and inhabited places. The eighteenth century conceived of these geographic outliers as the natural limits of imperial expansion, but scientific and naval advances in the nineteenth century created new possibilities to know and control them. This development preoccupied British authors, who were accustomed to seeing atopic regions as otherworldly marvels in fantastical tales. Spaces that an empire could not colonize were spaces that literature might claim, as literary representations of atopias came to reflect their authors' attitudes toward the growth of the British Empire as well as the part they saw literature playing in that expansion.<br><br>Siobhan Carroll interrogates the role these blank spaces played in the construction of British identity during an era of unsettling global circulations. Examining the poetry of Samuel T. Coleridge and George Gordon Byron and the prose of Sophia Lee, Mary Shelley, and Charles Dickens, as well as newspaper accounts and voyage narratives, she traces the ways Romantic and Victorian writers reconceptualized atopias as threatening or, at times, vulnerable. These textual explorations of the earth's highest reaches and secret depths shed light on persistent facets of the British global and environmental imagination that linger in the twenty-first century.</p>",

They cover more than forty years of directing, with Bogdanovich talking candidly about his great triumphs, such as The Last Picture Show and What's Up, Doc?, and his overlooked gems, such as Daisy Miller and They All Laughed.<br><br> Assembled by acclaimed critic Peter Tonguette, also author of a critical biography of Bogdanovich, these interviews demonstrate that Bogdanovich was not only one of America's finest filmmakers, but also one of its most eloquent when discussing film and his own remarkable movies.",

"description": "Canadian cartoonist Gregory Gallant, pen name Seth, emerged as a cartoonist in the fertile period of the 1980s, when the alternative comics market boomed. Though he was influenced by mainstream comics in his teen years and did his earliest comics work on Mister X, a mainstream-style melodrama, Seth remains one of the least mainstream-inflected figures of the alternative comics' movement. His primary influences are underground comix, newspaper strips, and classic cartooning.<br><br> These interviews, including one career-spanning, definitive interview between the volume editors and the artist published here for the first time, delve into Seth's output from its earliest days to the present. Conversations offer insight into his influences, ideologies of comics and art, thematic preoccupations, and major works, from numerous perspectivesgiven Seth's complex and multifaceted artistic endeavors. Seth's first graphic novel, It's a Good Life, If You Don't Weaken, announced his fascination with the past and with earlier cartooning styles. Subsequent works expand on those preoccupations and themes. Clyde Fans, for example, balances present-day action against narratives set in the past. The visual style looks polished and contemplative, the narrative deliberately paced; plot seems less important than mood or characterization, as Seth deals with the inescapable grind of time and what it devours, themes which recur to varying degrees in George Sprott, Wimbledon Green, and The Great Northern Brotherhood of Canadian Cartoonists.",

"description": "Beginners Guide to SolidWorks 2014 Level II starts where Beginners Guide Level I ends, following the same easy to read style and companion video instruction, but this time covering advanced topics and techniques. The purpose of this book is to teach advanced techniques including sheet metal, surfacing, how to create components in the context of an assembly and reference other components (Top-down design), propagate design changes with SolidWorks parametric capabilities, mold design, welded structures, and more while explaining the basic concepts of each trade to allow you to understand the how and why of each operation. The author uses simple examples to allow you to better understand each command and environment, as well as to make it easier to explain the purpose of each step, maximizing the learning time by focusing on one task at a time. This book is focused on the processes to complete the modeling of a part, instead of focusing on individual software commands or operations, which are generally simple enough to learn. At the end of this book, you will have acquired enough skills to be highly competitive when it comes to designing with SolidWorks, and while there are many less frequently used commands and options available that will not be covered in this book, rest assured that those covered are most of the commands used every day by SolidWorks designers. The author strived hard to include the commands required in the Certified SolidWorks Associate test as listed on the SolidWorks website, and some, as well as several more. Now Includes Video InstructionEach copy of this book now includes video instruction. In these videos the author provides a visual presentation of tutorials found in the book. The videos reinforce the steps described in the book by allowing you to watch the exact steps the author uses to complete the exercise.",
