Coverage includes data and software resources, data representation, observations, modeling, data-model integration, web services, and the areas of current and potential cross-fertilization of atmospheric and geospatial sciences. Providing both the concepts and practices of mapping and modeling projects, the book is useful to novices using GIS on weather and climate projects. Practitioners and managers will gain a clear picture of the advances in GIS for atmospheric sciences and appreciate the helpful lists of available geospatial resources.", "author": "Lori Armstrong", "slug": "mapping-and-modeling-weather-and-climate-with-gis-150079-9781589484054", "thumbnail_image": "//redshelf-images.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com/thumbnail/9781589484054.jpg", "default_thumbnail_image": "//redshelf-images.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com/thumbnail/default_book_thumbnail.jpg", "product_type": "book", "product_id": "150079", "product_url": "/app/ecom/book/150079/mapping-and-modeling-weather-and-climate-with-gis-150079-9781589484054", "bisac_codes": [ "TEC036000", "SCI092000" ], "items_count": null, "identifiers": { "ISBN13": "9781589483767", "EISBN13": "9781589484054", "EISBN10": "1589484053" }, "drm": null, "cover_image": null, "default_cover_image": null, "book_type": null }, "relationships": { "lowest_offering": { "data": { "type": "offerings", "id": "00010015103514" } } } }, { "type": "Product", "id": "00010000150078", "attributes": { "name": "Really Yucky Stuff (That's Gross Volume 2)", "subtitle": "Weird Facts for Kids", "description": "Children are often entertained by things that are disgusting and absurd. While recent books and articles discussing his life and work focus on the production and philosophy of his iconic Hollywood-era films like Notorious (1946) and Vertigo (1958), Hitchcock Lost and Found moves beyond these seminal works to explore forgotten, incomplete, lost, and recovered productions from all stages of his career, including his early years in Britain.Authors Alain Kerzoncuf and Charles Barr highlight Hitchcock's neglected works, including various films and television productions that supplement the critical attention already conferred on his feature films. They also explore the director's career during World War II, when he continued making high-profile features while also committing himself to a number of short war-effort projects on both sides of the Atlantic. After graduating from West Point, Weitzel, a German immigrant from Cincinnati, was assigned to the Army Corps of Engineers in New Orleans. The secession of Louisiana in 1861, with its key port city of New Orleans, was the first of a long and unlikely series of events that propelled the young Weitzel to the center of many of the Civil Wars key battles and brought him into the orbit of such well-known personages as Lee, Beauregard, Butler, Farragut, Porter, Grant, and Lincoln. Weitzel quickly rose through the ranks and was promoted to brigadier general and, eventually to commander of Twenty-Fifth Corps, the Union Armys only all-black unit. After fighting in numerous campaigns in Louisiana and Virginia, on April 3, 1865, Weitzel marched his troops into Richmond, the capital of the Confederacy, capturing the city for the Union and precipitating the eventual collapse of the Southern states rebellion.
G. What do we do about teachers who do not want to teach, and students who do not want to learn? How should we deal with racism and sexism in the classroom?

Full of passion and politics, Teaching to Transgress combines a practical knowledge of the classroom with a deeply felt connection to the world of emotions and feelings. This is the rare book about teachers and students that dares to raise critical questions about eras and rage, grief and reconciliation, and the future of teaching itself. \"To educate as the practice of freedom\", writes bell hooks, \"is a way of teaching that anyone can learn.\" Teaching to Transgress is the record of one gifted teacher's struggle to make classrooms work.
", "author": "Bell Hooks", "slug": "teaching-to-transgress-149998-9781135200008-bell-hooks", "thumbnail_image": "//redshelf-images.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com/thumbnail/159d95b1da8a8134df421c5b1e1923067bcb1357d52a90c315bf7781e6fedc89_fc6d75e8-38aa-4ad6-a758-2c2e98b4478b.jpeg", "default_thumbnail_image": "//redshelf-images.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com/thumbnail/default_book_thumbnail.jpg", "product_type": "book", "product_id": "149998", "product_url": "/app/ecom/book/149998/teaching-to-transgress-149998-9781135200008-bell-hooks", "bisac_codes": [ "EDU000000" ], "items_count": null, "identifiers": { "ISBN13": "9780415908078", "ISBN10": "0415908086", "EISBN13": "9781135200008", "EISBN10": "1135200009" }, "drm": null, "cover_image": null, "default_cover_image": null, "book_type": null }, "relationships": { "lowest_offering": { "data": { "type": "offerings", "id": "00010036148942" } } } }, { "type": "Product", "id": "00010000149967", "attributes": { "name": "Ethnic Minorities in 19th and 20th Century Germany", "subtitle": "Jews, Gypsies, Poles, Turks and Others", "description": "
This is the first book to trace the history of all ethnic minorities in Germany during the nineteenth and twentieth-centuries. It argues that all of the different types of states in Germany since 1800 have displayed some level of hostility towards ethnic minorities. While this reached its peak under the Nazis, the book suggests a continuity of intolerance towards ethnic minorities from 1800 that continued into the Federal Republic.

During this long period German states were home to three different types of ethnic minorities in the form of- dispersed Jews and Gypsies; localised minorities such as Serbs, Poles and Danes; and immigrants from the 1880s. Taking a chronological approach that runs into the new Millennium, the author traces the history of all of these ethnic groups, illustrating their relationship with the German government and with the rest of the German populace.
