                "name": "Elementary Algebraic Geometry",
                "subtitle": "Second Edition",
                "description": "Designed to make learning introductory algebraic geometry as easy as possible, this text is intended for advanced undergraduates and graduate students who have taken a one-year course in algebra and are familiar with complex analysis. This newly updated second edition enhances the original treatment's extensive use of concrete examples and exercises with numerous figures that have been specially redrawn in Adobe Illustrator. An introductory chapter that focuses on examples of curves is followed by a more rigorous and careful look at plane curves. Subsequent chapters explore commutative ring theory and algebraic geometry as well as varieties of arbitrary dimension and some elementary mathematics on curves. Upon finishing the text, students will have a foundation for advancing in several different directions, including toward a further study of complex algebraic or analytic varieties or to the scheme-theoretic treatments of algebraic geometry.2015 edition.",

                "subtitle": "Models and Methods",
                "description": "This monograph provides both a unified account of the development of models and methods for the problem of estimating equilibrium traffic flows in urban areas and a survey of the scope and limitations of present traffic models. The development is described and analyzed by the use of the powerful instruments of nonlinear optimization and mathematical programming within the field of operations research. The first part is devoted to mathematical models for the analysis of transportation network equilibria; the second deals with methods for traffic equilibrium problems. This title will interest readers wishing to extend their knowledge of equilibrium modeling and analysis and of the foundations of efficient optimization methods adapted for the solution of large-scale models. In addition to its value to researchers, the treatment is suitable for advanced graduate courses in transportation, operations research, and quantitative economics.",

                "description": "This introduction to the concepts and methods of quantum mechanics employs the analysis of one-dimensional problems to offer students a quantitative understanding of atomic, molecular, solid-state, and nuclear physics. Applications of these concepts and methods help answer the most intriguing questions of modern physics: What holds matter together? Holds it apart? How does the variety of chemical properties of different elements arise? How do electrons move through solids? Why do nuclei that occur in nature possess only certain combinations of protons and neutrons? The text presents meaningful problems by topic supplemented by ample illustrations, applications, and exercises that address the most intriguing questions of modern physics. Answers to selected problems appear in the appendix. Geared toward science and engineering majors, this volume is also appropriate for independent study by those who have completed a general physics course.",

In addition to his ever-popular tales of the Baker Street sleuth, Conan Doyle wrote many works of history and science fiction, as well as plays, poetry, and stories that reflected his interest in the occult.This anthology offers an excellent selection of tales from throughout the Scottish author's career. Sherlock Holmes's adventures include the novels The Hound of the Baskervilles and A Study in Scarlet, plus the stories \"The Final Problem\" and \"A Scandal in Bohemia.\" The Lost World introduces the dinosaur-hunting Professor Challenger, and a duo of supernatural thrillers features \"The Ring of Thoth\" and \"The Los Amigos Fiasco.\"",

Follow the flailing escapades of maverick music manager Campbell Ouiniette at the Calgary Folk Festival, as he leaves a trail of empty liquor bottles, cigarette butts, bruised egos, and obliterated relationships behind him. His top headlining act has abandoned him for the Big Time. In a fit of self-delusion or pure genius (or perhaps a bit of both), Ouiniette devises an intricate scam, a last hurrah in an attempt to redeem himself in the eyes of his girlfriend, the music industry, and the rest of the world. He reveals his path of destruction in his own transparently self-justifying, explosive, profane words, with digressions into the Edmonton hardcore punk rock scene, the Yugoslavian Civil War, and other epicentres of chaos.</p>",

                "name": "(1+1)-NONLNR UNIVERSE PARABOLIC MAP & COMBINATORICS, THE",
                "subtitle": "",
                "description": "This monograph develops chaos theory from properties of the graphs inverse to the parabolic map of the interval [0, 2], where the height at the midpoint x = 1 may be viewed as a time-like parameter, which together with the x-coordinate, provide the two parameters that uniquely characterize the parabola, and which are used throughout the monograph. There is only one basic mathematical operation used: function composition. The functions studied are the n-fold composition of the basic parabola with itself. However, it is the properties of the graph inverse to this n-fold composition that are the objects whose properties are developed. The reflection symmetry of the basic parabola through the vertical line x = 1 gives rise to two symmetry classes of inverse graphs: the inverse graphs and their conjugates. Quite remarkably, it turns out that there exists, among all the inverse graphs and their conjugates, a completely deterministic class of inverse graphs and their conjugates. Deterministic in the sense that this class is uniquely determined for all values of the time-like parameter and the x-coordinate, the entire theory, of course, being highly nonlinear it is polynomial in the time-like parameter and in the x-coordinate. The deterministic property and its implementation are key to the argument that the system is a complex adaptive system in the sense that a few axioms lead to structures of unexpected richness.This monograph is about working out the many details that advance the notion that deterministic chaos theory, as realized by a complex adaptive system, is indeed a new body of mathematics that enriches our understanding of the world around us. But now the imagination is also opened to the possibility that the real universe is a complex adaptive system.* deceased",

Then, because of resulting bitter and vicious arguments within the church and the media, the Vatican took a course of action that was inconsiderate, hurtful and cold hearted.\nIt explains how the young musicians, responded to an invitation from the church only to have their fledgling careers destroyed.\nThe reader will discover that many articles in recent years are wrong in their descriptions of what happened following La Messa and falsely acclaim it as being a successful innovation of the Catholic Church at the time.",

                "description": "<p>Since 1788, Australia has carried the yoke of four European seasons that make no sense in most parts of the country. We may like them for historical or cultural reasons, or because they are the same throughout the world, but they tell us nothing of our natural environment. It's time to reject those seasons and to adopt a system that brings us more in tune with our plants and animals a system that helps us to notice and respond to climate change.</p>\n<p>Using examples from his 25 years working in botanic gardens, author Timothy Entwisle illustrates how our natural world really responds to seasonal changes in temperature, rainfall and daylight, and why it would be better to divide up the year based on what Australian plants do rather than ancient rites of the Northern Hemisphere.</p>\n<p>Sprinter and Sprummer opens with the origins and theory of the traditional seasonal system, and goes on to review the Aboriginal seasonal classifications used across Australia. Entwisle then proposes a new five-season approach, explaining the characteristics of each season, along with the biological changes that define them. The book uses seasons to describe the fascinating triggers in the life of a plant (and plant-like creatures), using charismatic flora such as carnivorous plants, the Wollemi Pine and orchids, as well as often overlooked organisms such as fungi. The final chapter considers climate change and how the seasons are shifting whether we like it or not.</p>",
