Often just a few sentences but never more than a few paragraphs, these compelling literary and personal meditations have raised the Facebook post to an art form, gained thousands of loyal readers, and been featured in the New Yorker. In Note Book, Nunokawa has selected some 250 of the most powerful and memorable of these essays, many accompanied by the snapshots originally posted alongside them. The result is a new kind of literary work for the age of digital and social media, one that reimagines the essays efforts, at least since Montaigne, to understand our common condition by trying to understand ourselves.<br><br>Ranging widely, the essays often begin with a quotation from one of Nunokawas favorite writersGeorge Eliot, Henry James, Gerard Manley Hopkins, W. H. Auden, Robert Frost, or James Merrill, to name a few. At other times, Nunokawa is just as likely to be discussing Joni Mitchell or Spanish soccer striker Fernando Torres.<br><br>Confessional and moving, enlightening and entertaining, Note Book is ultimately a profound reflection on loss and lonelinessand on the compensations that might be found through writing, literature, and connecting to others through social media.</p>",

Yet we also have a new generation of oceanographers who have become increasingly distanced from the object of their study. Ever fewer scientists collect the observational data on which they base their research. Instead, many download information without always fully understanding how far removed it is from the original data, with opportunity for great misinterpretation. This textbook introduces modern physical oceanography to beginning graduate students in marine sciences and experienced practitioners in allied fields. Real observations are strongly emphasized, as are their implications for understanding the behavior of the global ocean.<br><br>Written by a leading physical oceanographer, Modern Observational Physical Oceanography explains what the observational revolution of the past twenty-five years has taught us about the real, changing fluid ocean. Unlike any other book, it provides a broad and accessible treatment of the subject, covering everything from modern methods of observation and data analysis to the fluid dynamics and modeling of ocean processes and variability. Fully illustrated in color throughout, the book describes the fundamental concepts that are needed before delving into more advanced topics, including internal-inertial waves, tides, balanced motions, and large-scale circulation physics.<br></p>Provides an accessible introduction to modern physical oceanography<br>Written by a leading physical oceanographer<br>Emphasizes real observations of the fluid ocean<br>Features hundreds of color illustrations<br>An online illustration package is available to professors<br>",

Today, mental disturbance is most commonly viewed through a medical lens, but societies have also sought to make sense of it through religion or the supernatural, or by constructing psychological or social explanations in an effort to tame the demons of unreason. Madness in Civilization traces the long and complex history of this affliction and our attempts to treat it.<br><br>Beautifully illustrated throughout, Madness in Civilization takes readers from antiquity to today, painting a vivid and often harrowing portrait of the different ways that cultures around the world have interpreted and responded to the seemingly irrational, psychotic, and insane. From the Bible to Sigmund Freud, from exorcism to mesmerism, from Bedlam to Victorian asylums, from the theory of humors to modern pharmacology, the book explores the manifestations and meanings of madness, its challenges and consequences, and our varied responses to it. It also looks at how insanity has haunted the imaginations of artists and writers and describes the profound influence it has had on the arts, from drama, opera, and the novel to drawing, painting, and sculpture.<br><br>Written by one of the world's preeminent historians of psychiatry, Madness in Civilization is a panoramic history of the human encounter with unreason.</p>",

The element that seems to be missing is a plan of protection from spiritual battles and the enemy believers face each day. Out of her teachings in small groups the need for this study came to light. Jennifer wants to educate readers on the enemy, what is spiritual warfare, and how powerful prayer is in the life of a believer. The ultimate goal of this study is for readers to embrace their own battle plan and discover that God is fighting for them. Fierce Warrioress is a six-week study with the theme verse found in Nehemiah 4:14. An abundance of Scripture and discussion questions are used to create a powerful strategy to face and defeat the enemy. A free Leader's Guide is available at www.randallhouse.com.",

                "name": "BOMBAY LECT HIGH WEIGHT REPRE INFIN DIMEN LIE ALGEB (2ND ED)",
                "subtitle": "",
                "description": "The first edition of this book is a collection of a series of lectures given by Professor Victor Kac at the TIFR, Mumbai, India in December 1985 and January 1986. These lectures focus on the idea of a highest weight representation, which goes through four different incarnations.The first is the canonical commutation relations of the infinite dimensional Heisenberg Algebra (= oscillator algebra). The second is the highest weight representations of the Lie algebra gl of infinite matrices, along with their applications to the theory of soliton equations, discovered by Sato and Date, Jimbo, Kashiwara and Miwa. The third is the unitary highest weight representations of the current (= affine Kac-Moody) algebras. These Lie algebras appear in the lectures in connection to the Sugawara construction, which is the main tool in the study of the fourth incarnation of the main idea, the theory of the highest weight representations of the Virasoro algebra. In particular, the book provides a complete proof of the Kac determinant formula, the key result in representation theory of the Virasoro algebra.The second edition of this book incorporates, as its first part, the largely unchanged text of the first edition, while its second part is the collection of lectures on vertex algebras, delivered by Professor Kac at the TIFR in January 2003. The basic idea of these lectures was to demonstrate how the key notions of the theory of vertex algebras such as quantum fields, their normal ordered product and lambda-bracket, energy-momentum field and conformal weight, untwisted and twisted representations simplify and clarify the constructions of the first edition of the book.This book should be very useful for both mathematicians and physicists. To mathematicians, it illustrates the interaction of the key ideas of the representation theory of infinite dimensional Lie algebras and of the theory of vertex algebras; and to physicists, these theories are turning into an important component of such domains of theoretical physics as soliton theory, conformal field theory, the theory of two-dimensional statistical models, and string theory.",

                "description": "Having just given birth to her third child under the stress of unemployment and past due bills, Tameka Hope strongly believed that life couldn't get any worse. She was soon proved otherwise when an EF-4 tornado touched down and demolished her Tuscaloosa neighborhood in less than ten minutes, leaving nothing but the foundation of her home. \n\nThe death of more than 50 people served as a reminder that her alcohol abuse, physical disability, clinical depression and thoughts of suicide were only temporary roadblocks to her path of victory. Because there was still breath in her body, there was still hope of turning her story around. \n\nGod Had Other Plans is a personal testament of tragedy and triumph before, during and after the life altering events of April 27th, 2011. An emotional and empowering memoir, it proves that you can chase your dreams, achieve your goals, and be all that your heart desires in spite of life's unexpected circumstances.",

Following the structure of the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Archbishop Lori explains what the Church believes and how we can best put those beliefs into practice in our everyday lives. In five questions following each chapter, the reader can reflect on the meaning of these truths for his or her own life. Among the topics covered are the Creed, the liturgy, the seven sacraments, the Ten Commandments, and prayer in the Christian life. This book provides a wonderful means to appreciate the beauty of the Catholic faith, thus renewing our zeal and desire to share the good news of Christ with others.",

                "description": "<p>\"Mia and the Bad Boy is what the young adult genre should be made of! A story full of heart and humor with the right mixture of romance throughout. I loved the friendship that blossoms between Mia and Ryder, and seeing it develop into more. I will absolutely be reading more from the Crush line, and more of Lisa Burstein!\" -Jessica, Thoughts at One in the Morning<br><br>Ryder Brooks is living the dreamhes famous, loved by millions of girls, and miserable. All he really wants is to write his own music, not Seconds to Juliets sugary sweet pop. In order to do that, though, the bad boy of the band will have to play by the rules. And that includes behaving with his newand super cuteuber-good-girl tutor.<br><br>Mia Reyes is in fangirl heaven. Tutoring her favorite member of her favorite band? Its a dream come true...until it turns into a complete nightmare. Ryder is nothing like she thought. Hes crude, arrogant, and pretty much a total jerk. And the worst part? Shes roped into pretending to be his girlfriend so that no one finds out hes being tutored. Fake kisses, plenty of PDA, and even sharing his hotel room...<br><br>But sometimes even the baddest of bad boys needs a little redemption.<br><br>Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains adult language, underage drinking, sexual situations, and lots of swoons. It may convince even the good-est of good girls to go bad.<br><br>Each book in the Backstage Pass Series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order. <br>Series Order:<br>Book #1 - Aimee and the Heartthrob<br>Book #2 - Mia and the Bad Boy<br>Book #3 - Daisy and the Front Man<br>Book #4 - Anya and the Shy Guy<br>Book #5 - Abby and the Cute One</p>",
