"description": "A Simple Introduction to Data and Activity Analysis provides an introduction to the main concepts embodied in the analysis techniques. This book provides a more balanced picture of the methods of the analysis by showing what deliverables are collected as well as how to obtain them. Organized into eight chapters, this book begins with an overview of some of the activities that need to be done to analyze the business and some of the end and intermediate deliverables produced by these activities. This text then explains how to get the activity analysis deliverables. Other chapters consider the causes and effects of problems in business. This book discusses as well how activities can be decomposed or broken down into more and more detailed activities, using the techniques of activity decomposition and data flow diagramming. The final chapter deals with the methods of analysis that show how different types of input could be converted into the data and activity models. This book is a valuable resource for computer programmers.",

Problems associated with dyspepsia; diseases of the gall bladder and the pancreas; various gastrointestinal problems; and rare gastrointestinal disorders are also explained. The book also describes Crohn's disease, disorders of the colon, as well as gastrointestinal tract involvement in some systemic diseases. Professional gastroenterologists and students taking courses related to gastroenterology will find the book invaluable.",

The author reviews the histology and morphology of the skin. He explains congenital affections of the skin such as ichthyosis, xerodermia, albinism, Mongolian blue spots, and of the hair such as adenoma sebaceum. Some irritation is normal for the skin; certain slight anomalies render the skin vulnerable. Some physical and chemical irritants can excite an otherwise normal skin. These irritations are known as erythema, wheals, blisters, intertrigo (chaffing), erythema ab igne (due to heat), solar erythema (sunburn), freckles, and dermatitis medicamentosa. The author also describes micro-biotic affections of the skin such as erysipelas, follicular impetigo, boils, carbuncles, and veld sore. Some substances that can cause skin eruptions are antipyrin, arsenic, boric acid, luminal, mercury, Midol, pantopon, salicylic acid, and tar. Toxics in the blood also cause skin eruptions. These toxics can be from the internal administration of certain drugs, vaccination, from poison of acute rheumatism, septic conditions, and absorption of toxic substances produced by visceral disease. This book is suitable for dermatologists, practitioners of general medicine, students and academicians dealing with the medical sciences, particularly on the skin.",

This book examines the selection of operative methods, improvements in the operative method, and the advantages of pre-operative and post-operative treatment. Organized into four parts encompassing 93 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the sites of obstruction in the esophagus. This text then discusses the general symptoms of dyspepsia, including discomfort, pain, heartburn, flatulence, acid eructation, nausea, vomiting, and visceral tenderness. Other chapters consider significant functions of the stomach, which is the main organ concerned with digestion and absorption. This book discusses as well the incidence and causes of dilatations and spasm of the alimentary canal. The final chapter deals with the principles involved when dealing with injuries to the rectum. This book is a valuable resource for surgeons, physicians, and post-graduate students.",

This book reviews the alkalimetry, acidimetry, standard solutions, normal solutions, and the preparation of solutions in public health laboratories, including methods of estimating equivalent weights of substances. In collecting water samples for analysis, the investigator should avoid all sources of extraneous contamination. The Wanklyn's process analyzes organic matter in the water: different tests give quantitative estimates of water contamination or bacterial purity. The authors point that the process of analyzing sewage and sewage effluents are the same as in water analysis except that sewage is diluted with distilled water. The authors also explain how air and water are analyzed, soil analysis being a complex process. The authors discuss milk analysis (fresh, boiled, skimmed, powdered, condensed), butter, cheese, food grains. Microscopic examination of bacteria from samples taken are examined alive, in film preparations, or in sections. The book describes in detail the different types of bacteria, their occurrence, and how these are examined or cultured. This book is intended as a laboratory handbook for students taking up the examination in Public Health. The book can also prove beneficial for social worker, public health officials, and for undergraduate medical students.",

One author reviews the history of blood transfusion from the dawn of human history until Dr. Thomas Sprat discovered an ideal method in 1657. One paper discusses the indications for blood transfusion such as acute hemorrhage, traumatic shock, thermal burns, surgical shock, or intestinal obstruction. Another author describes the possible complications that may arise from blood transfusion. These complications include hemolytic reactions, simple febrile reactions, allergic or anaphylactoid reactions. One paper describes the different blood groups: ABO, MN, P and other human red-cell agglutinogens, RH, and the Human Blood Group Substances. In administering blood transfusion, one author points that an adequate prescribed volume of compatible blood at the correct speed and temperature should be administered with little stress on the part of the patient. Other authors discuss blood transfusion in infants, blood storage, the use of blood derivatives and blood substitutes, as well as the structure of a well-organized hospital blood transfusion department. This book can be helpful for hospital and clinical health services workers, students of nursing or medicine, as well as persons undergoing training in first aid and emergency procedures.",

In Chapters 1-5 the basic ideas and techniques of partial differentiation, and of line, multiple and surface integrals are discussed. Chapters 6 and 7 give the elements of vector field theory, taking the integral definitions of the divergence and curl of a vector field as their starting points; the last chapter surveys very briefly some of the immediate applications of vector field theory to five branches of applied mathematics. Throughout I have given numerous worked examples. In these I have paid particular attention to those points which in my own experience I have found to give most difficulty to students. In the text I have denoted spherical polar coordinates by (/-, 0, ?)9 and cylindrical polar coordinates by (p, ?, ?), so that ? measures the same angle in both systems. Since there is no one standard notation for these systems, the reader will meet different notations in the course of his reading, and in quoting examination questions in the exercises I have kept to the notation of the originals. The Exercises at the end of each section are intended to give practice in the basic techniques just discussed. The Miscellaneous Exercises are more varied, and contain many examination questions.",

"description": "A Synopsis of Children's Diseases is a reference of common, rare, or very rare diseases in children. The book describes the characteristics of a healthy child including the requirements for his management and proper nutrition. Examination of the child through routine physical examination or certain special examinations, such as blood tests, marrow smear, cerebrospinal fluid tests, or urine test will indicate if the child is sick. The text describes diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases (measles, mumps), of nutrition (marasmus syndrome, infantile scurvy), of the respiratory system (tonsils, sinuses), and the alimentary system (diarrhea, intestinal obstruction). The book also describes diseases affecting the cardiovascular system, the nervous system, psychological disorders, the genitor-urinary system, the blood, and the lymph nodes. Inborn errors of metabolism include Gaucher's disease, cerebromacular degeneration, generalized xanthomatosis, diabetes mellitus, and Von Gierke's disease. The text discusses allergies, venereal disease, and accidents that can occur in childhood such as burns, scalds, lead or iron poisoning. This book is suitable for pediatricians, general practitioners, medical students, and parents who are interested in obtaining information about childhood diseases.",

This book presents the trapping technique in defining geometrical and physical entities that are usually regarded as limits of sums. Organized into 20 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the notion of average speed that seems to appear first as a qualitative concept. This text then presents the concepts of external and internal parameters to increase the appreciation of parametric functions. Other chapters consider separable differential equations with more detail than usual with their suitability in describing physical laws. This book discusses as well the study of variable quantities whose magnitude is determined by the magnitudes of several other variables. The final chapter deals with a homogeneous differential equation and auxiliary equations consisting imaginary roots. This book is a valuable resource for mathematicians and students. Readers whose interests span a variety of fields will also find this book useful.",

"description": "Some Electrical and Optical Aspects of Molecular Behaviour deals with dipole moments, molecular science, and molecular polarizability. The author explains the refractive index and the electric permittivity including polarization, polarizability, the Mossotti-Clausius equation, molar polarization, and molar refraction. The author also addresses the results of dipole moment measurements, the significance of the values obtained, and how these can determine molecular structural features. By using the Debye equation, one can determine the molecular moments of polar solutes in non-polar solvents. The book discusses how molecular polarizability and molecular polarization are measured and how these factors are associated with molecular structure. He also explains light scattering and the molecular weight of solutes by employing the research made by Debye which determines the weights, shapes, and interactions of molecules in solution. The author also addresses the form and order of the magnitude of interaction energies and cites typical examples of these occurrences. These energies often represent an electrostatic nature; in some ways, they can be understood as being quantum-mechanical in nature. This book can be helpful for students taking up dipole moments, molecular polarizability or molecular science.",
