                "description": "Practical Biology for Advanced Level and Intermediate Students, Fifth Edition is an eight-part laboratory manual covering the syllabuses in biology of the advanced level students and other examinations of similar standard. The Introduction presents general instructions for practical work and for the keeping of practical notebooks and a list of apparatus and instruments required, as well as a summary of the characteristics of living organisms, the differences between plants and animals and the principles of plant classification. Part I describes first the features and uses of a microscope, followed by a presentation of guidelines for the preparation of microscopical slides. Parts II to IV are devoted to the evaluation of the form, structure, the microscopical structure of tissues and organs, and the very important aspect of their mode of functioning. Parts V to VIII explore the biochemical, embryological, and genetic aspects of life. These parts also consider other forms and modes of life, including insectivorous plants, fungi, bacteria, saprophytism, symbiosis, commensalism, and parasitism. This book is directed toward advanced and intermediate level botany teachers and students.",

                "description": "Nonsteady Flame Propagation provides information pertinent to flame propagation in gaseous media. This book focuses on linearized treatments and the comparison of their results with experimental observations. Organized into nine chapters, this book begins with an overview of the challenge of nonlinear problems and examines the essentially nonlinear character of the flame phenomena, which has been artificially suppressed in analyses by the use of linearized perturbation treatments. This text then summarizes the development regarding rocket-shaped burners. Other chapters consider the advantages as well as the limitations of linearized analyses. This book discusses as well a general treatment of the discontinuous-flame-front model and summarizes the results of studies of burner that use secondary air. The final chapter deals with re-examining the possibilities of using pulsating combustion in propulsion or in other applications. This book is a valuable resource for chemical engineers, chemists, scientists, and research workers.",

The information presented in this four-chapter book is based on remote observations and measurements from the vantage point of Earth and on the results obtained from accelerated space program of the United States and U.S.S.R. Chapter 1 presents the prevalent hypotheses on the origin and age of the Solar System, followed by a brief description of the methods and feasibility of information acquisition concerning lunar and planetary data, either from fixed terrestrial observatories or from instrumented or manned space probes. Chapter 2 reviews all conditions pertaining to the surface aspects of the closest celestial neighbor, the Moon. Sections in this chapter deal sequentially with the atmosphere, temperature conditions, subsurface stratification, field intensities (gravitational, electric, and magnetic), and lastly with the biological conditions existing on the lunar surface. This chapter also provides information on the density of the lunar atmosphere under quiescent or high-flux transient conditions, on the topography of the lunar surface, and on the probable proportion of crater-covered areas in the highlands and on the Maria. Chapter 3 is a detailed treatment of the surface conditions on the terrestrial planets, comprising Mercury, Venus, and Mars, while Chapter 4 deals with similar information relating to the so-called Jovian planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune) and Pluto. This book will prove useful to lunar and planetary mission planners, both those concerned with the purely scientific aspects of surfaces and immediate subsurfaces, and those involved in the development of roving exploration vehicles.",

                "description": "The Kybernetics of Natural Systems: A Study in Patterns of Control provides an elementary account of linear feedback systems in which the correction of an error of performance is numerically proportional to that error itself. This book examines the nonlinear processes, which is of great importance for the understanding of controlled processes in the living organism. Organized into seven chapters, this book begins with an overview of the elementary propositions of kybernetics that are keys to the understanding of a great many patterns of working in psychology and physiology. This text then examines the interplay of dynamic and control during the process of childbirth. Other chapters consider the kybernetic description of a physiological sequence, which differs from the pattern of the reflex arc. This book discusses as well the axioms and principles of kybernetics. The final chapter deals with the laws of kybernetics. This book is a valuable resource for physiologists.",

This book is composed of 16 chapters, and starts with a description of the etiology and psychopathology of hysteria. These topics are followed by intensive discussions on the clinical manifestations and diagnosis of hysteria and related mental disorders, including neurosis, psychosis, schizophrenia, and multiple personality. Other chapters consider the nature of dissociative phenomena from a structural and dynamic point of view, as well as its significance in understanding the etiology of ego disorders. This book also looks into some aspects of language development, the conversion process, and the features of hysteria as a communicative disorder. The last chapters present several medical cases illustrating the differences between conversion hysteria and psychophysiologic autonomic disorder. These chapters also deal with the types of psychotherapy for hysteria. This book is of great value to psychologists, neurologists, clinicians, and psychotherapists.",

This book examines the positive remedial actions of numerous herbal plants in terms of their chemical constituents and their curing capacity. Leading herbal simples are reviewed alphabetically, and to ensure accuracy, the genus and species of each plant are particularized. This text reconsiders those safe and sound herbal curative remedies and medicine that were formerly most in vogue as homely simples, whether to be taken or to be outwardly applied. The issue of whether the herbal simples be employed as auxiliaries by the physician in attendance or are welcomed for prompt service in a household emergency is discussed. This book will be of great value to biologists, herbalists, and research workers in the fields related to herbal medicines.",

                "name": "Frequency Modulation Theory",
                "subtitle": "Application to Microwave Links",
                "description": "Electronic and Instrumentation, Volume 11: Frequency Modulation Theory: Application to Microwave Links covers the theoretical principles of microwave beam technique. This five-chapter text particularly discusses the propagation of the waves used, frequency modulation, and noise and sundry distortions liable to arise either in the course of propagation, in the equipment, and in the methods used for the transmission of the information. Chapter 1 examines the transfer of the radio-frequency energy over a given path. This chapter describes the properties of propagation of radio waves, including metric, decimetric and centimetric, through the troposphere. Chapter 2 concerns all the general problems of frequency modulation, while chapter 3 deals with the propagation distortion, which is apparent in a variable-velocity guided transmission channel, and, which appears on an echoing path either in free space, or over a badly matched feeder.
