"description": "Young Thomas Early had a hard and austere childhood. He lived with his mother and father on a small farm in Eastern Kansas. Life on the farm was laborious, difficult, and uncertain, but the family managed to eke out a meager living on the limitless, barren prairie. When young Thomas was only ten-years old, his father died. Three months later, his mother passed away and suddenly the boy became an orphan-alone on the small, primitive, family farm in the middle of a vast, desolate prairie landscape.
As it turned out, Thomas wasn't entirely alone. He had a distant aunt and uncle, Millie and Zachary Stockbridge. When they heard about the death of the Thomas' parents they rode over to comfort and care for him. The three agreed that the Stockbridges would live on the Early farm as a family. Thomas, Zachary and Millie lived in the sod house and worked the farm for the next six years, then Millie Stockbridge expired. Not long after that, Zachary Stockbridge had a fatal riding accident.
Without any kinsfolk Tom Early was left to work the farm by himself, but it was an impossible task. Opportunity arrived when three railroad men showed up and offered to buy the Early farm. Tom readily agreed to sell and after the sale, he rode west leaving the farm behind and hoping to find someplace to settle in-a place to make a fresh beginning and start a new life. He was able to create that new life when he settled in the town of Blossom Springs. His fresh beginning came when he met Horace Hollenbak. Hollenbak owned and published the only newspaper west of Wichita. He hired Tom as an apprentice and taught him the newspaper business.
Tom lived and worked in Blossom Springs for over two years when he met a beautiful young woman, Virginia Clarey, at a church picnic. They courted for over a year and Tom asked Virginia to marry him. She agreed to be his bride and just when it seemed like they were destined to live happily ever after, a childhood acquaintance from Virginia's past appeared. The man was George Templeton, an ex-army officer. He also wanted to marry Virginia and he challenged Tom to a gun duel for her hand in marriage. Thomas Early had no experience with firearms and was forced to cede the field of honor to Templeton.
Discouraged but not defeated, Thomas Early vowed to become a gunfighter and return to win back his intended bride, Virginia Clarey. He rode to the Southwest Territory to meet the notorious gunfighter Wesley Garret and learn to be a fast-draw gunslinger. Garret agreed to teach Tom to be a gunfighter but warned him that living by the gun changes a man. He becomes meaner, hardened and ruthless. Tom was sure that would never happen to him because all he wanted to do was win back his beloved Virginia and settle down to a happy married life. But soon Thomas Early was to find that goal would be harder to achieve than he ever imagined.

",

She takes Milan to Matria who lives nearby, on land still full of butterflies at a time when butterflies are nearly gone. Matria doesn't give Milan a system or a method. She sends him to four teachers - of the body, the mind, the heart, and the spirit - each asking him to stop, look inward, and face the only question that has ever mattered:

What is your attention creating - and is that the life you meant to live?

Written in the spiritual quest tradition of The Alchemist, and rooted in the ancient Persian wisdom of yeki-bood, yeki-nabood - the visible and invisible worlds, energy and matter - The Attentionist offers a practical, powerful way of coming back to our true selves, and addressing the problems we all face, individually, and as a planet.
",

Yet most IT executives have never received a proper introduction to this critical infrastructure.

Instead, you get myths, jargon, and vendor pitches. When decisions arise-invest? modernize? migrate? integrate?-you lack the fundamental understanding to evaluate options intelligently.

This book fixes that.

Written for IT leaders and professionals who need to understand mainframes without becoming specialists, this provides the missing foundation: clear, vendor-neutral guidance on what mainframes are, how they work, and how they integrate with modern applications and cloud platforms.

What you'll learn:
Understanding the platform - What makes mainframes different? Modern capabilities like AI, containers, and DevOps. How integration with cloud-native applications actually works.Evaluating options - Modernize, migrate, integrate, or hybrid approach? Each has trade-offs. This book helps you evaluate based on business value.Managing effectively - How costs work. How to build talent pipelines. How cloud strategy and application integration apply.
What makes this different:

Vendor-neutral. Business-focused, not just technical. Covers current technology: AI accelerators, quantum-safe encryption, containerization, REST APIs, and integration patterns.

Who this is for:

CIOs, IT executives, enterprise architects, IT professionals, CFOs, and consultants. You don't need mainframe experience-this is the introduction you never received.

The platform isn't the problem. The knowledge gap is.

This book closes that gap. Then you can decide.
",

From the outside, it appeared as if she bounced back from a failed marriage living the dream life. She was newly remarried to her soulmate, a Frenchman with a kind heart, had purchased a home in San Francisco proper, and had been recruited to a new corporate role in the pharmaceutical industry.

With the passing of her mother followed by a corporate layoff, she was called to embark on an adventure to answer the whisper and discover what she was meant to do. To reach her next destination, she had to face challenges that subconsciously held her back for most of her life. Regina was guided to follow an unwritten framework: create security first, relax and recognize your inner GPS, take aligned action, and then receive. She finally embraced the spiritual gifts she was once forbidden to practice by healing childhood wounds and replacing cultural and parental expectations with her own inner truth.

A Thousand Whispers from Within is a memoir that speaks to accomplished professionals feeling trapped in the lives they've built, who desire clarity in their next chapter without sacrificing financial security. This is meant for you, if you're ready to be inspired and curious about how intuitive intelligence and energy can guide practical life-changing decisions. It's an empowering story that dismantles the old belief that you can't do what you love and still prosper.
",

                "description": "
The African Caliphs, by Dr. A. Hannibal Hamdallahi, aims to critically examine the political behavior and leadership of West African Muslim rulers, known as African Caliphs, between the 11th and 19th centuries. It focuses on the personal level skills and strategies required to acquire, maintain, and sometimes lose political power. This work also explores the deep interconnections between religion and governance during this important period of West African political, social, and religious history. It seeks to provide a more integrated understanding of how religion influenced the governance of African Caliphs, and how their experiences offer valuable leadership lessons for contemporary leaders. By focusing on the intersection of religion and politics, and drawing from a wide array of scholarly traditions, the study aims to offer insights that not only illuminate historical episodes, but also inform current political practices
",

The political violence has escalated to the point where civilians are being killed and maimed in bomb attacks and schools are under threat of attack by gunmen. A

nation-wide state of emergency is declared in June 1986 to stem the violence, but the death toll continues to mount. The family agonise on a decision to stay permanently in safe New Zealand or return to family and friends in South Africa and what Andre believes is his destiny.

The Marais family return to South Africa early in 1987 and take up residence in Pietermaritzburg where escalating political violence sees about two thousand killed during the next three years and more in the following years. Andre has a lectureship in the mathematics department at the local university. The quirks and foibles of his eccentric colleagues bring some humorous relief amidst all the tensions. His colleagues each have their own unique aims in life, some noble some not, but all under the scrutiny of the security police. Andre aims to fulfil a promise to his dying grandfather and eventually become Head of Mathematics. Achieving this is seriously challenged by the arrival of Richard, fresh from success in the USA.

With the continual violence the Marais family again decides to emigrate. To acquire the necessary overseas residency visas Andre needs a job offer and university positions have become scarce. Then political negotiations bring hope of peace and there are reasons to stay again. To emigrate or not is a recurring decision with the outcome changing with fluctuations in despair and hope in sync with political developments and some violent events that have a direct impact on the lives of the Marais family. The release of Nelson Mandela in 1990 brings great hope to the country but another fourteen thousand are killed before he eventually becomes president in 1994.
