"description": "
This book offers a clear, factual look at the challenges authors may encounter when their work enters one of the largest online bookacataloging platforms. Drawn entirely from publicly visible discussions in the Goodreads Librarians Group, it documents real cases of misattributed books, duplicate author profiles, merged works, stalled author claims, and other cataloging issues reported by authors themselves.

It does not provide legal advice or guaranteed solutions. Instead, it presents a snapshot of how the platform functioned during this period, showing how metadata errors arise, how they affect discoverability, and how they shape an author's ability to reach readers. The librarians featured here are volunteers working within strict limits, and the problems described reflect system behavior-not individual fault.

For new and experienced authors alike, this book serves as an informational resource: a way to understand the hidden mechanics of cataloging, identity matching, and metadata flow. It highlights why vigilance matters, why accuracy is fragile, and why authors must monitor their profiles and work with the systems as they currently exist.

This is a record of real experiences, preserved so authors can enter publishing with clearer expectations about how their books are cataloged, found, and connected to their public identity.

",

                "name": "Finite Difference Methods in Financial Engineering",
                "subtitle": "A Partial Differential Equation Approach",
                "description": "The world of quantitative finance (QF) is one of the fastest growing areas of research and its practical applications to derivatives pricing problem. Since the discovery of the famous Black-Scholes equation in the 1970's we have seen a surge in the number of models for a wide range of products such as plain and exotic options, interest rate derivatives, real options and many others. Gone are the days when it was possible to price these derivatives analytically. For most problems we must resort to some kind of approximate method. In this book we employ partial differential equations (PDE) to describe a range of one-factor and multi-factor derivatives products such as plain European and American options, multi-asset options, Asian options, interest rate options and real options. PDE techniques allow us to create a framework for modeling complex and interesting derivatives products. Having defined the PDE problem we then approximate it using the Finite Difference Method (FDM). This method has been used for many application areas such as fluid dynamics, heat transfer, semiconductor simulation and astrophysics, to name just a few. In this book we apply the same techniques to pricing real-life derivative products. We use both traditional (or well-known) methods as well as a number of advanced schemes that are making their way into the QF literature: Crank-Nicolson, exponentially fitted and higher-order schemes for one-factor and multi-factor options Early exercise features and approximation using front-fixing, penalty and variational methods Modelling stochastic volatility models using Splitting methods Critique of ADI and Crank-Nicolson schemes; when they work and when they don't work Modelling jumps using Partial Integro Differential Equations (PIDE) Free and moving boundary value problems in QF Included with the book is a CD containing information on how to set up FDM algorithms, how to map these algorithms to C++ as well as several working programs for one-factor and two-factor models. We also provide source code so that you can customize the applications to suit your own needs.",

Managing Human-Computer Networks: Will show how to make informed analyses and decisions about systems, how to diagnose faults and weaknesses Gives advice/guidance as to how to determine optimal policies for system management Includes exercises that illustrate the key points of the book The book provides a unique approach to an old problem and will become a classic for researchers and graduate students in Networking and Computer Science, as well as practicing system managers and system administrators.",

                "description": "\"An excellent and comprehensive source of information on hedge funds! From a quantitative view Lhabitant has done it once again by meticulously looking at the important topics in the hedge fund industry. This book has a tremendous wealth of information and is a valuable addition to the hedge fund literature. In addition, it will benefit institutional investors, high net worth individuals, academics and anyone interested in learning more about this fascinating and often mysterious world of privately managed money. Written by one of the most respected practitioners and academics in the area of hedge funds.\"Greg N. Gregoriou, Professor of finance and research coordinator in the School of Business and Economics at Plattsburgh State University of New York \"This is a landmark book on quantitative approaches to hedge funds. All those with a stake in building hedge fund portfolios will highly profit from this exhaustive guide. A must read for all those involved in hedge fund investing.\"Pascal Botteron, Ph.D., Head of Hedge Fund Product Development, Pictet Asset Management \"Francois-Serge Lhabitant's second book will prove to be a bestseller too - just like Hedge Funds: Myths and Limits. He actually manages to make quantitative analysis 'approachable'- even for those less gifted with numbers. This book, like its predecessor, includes an unprecedented mix of common sense and sophisticated technique. A fantastic guide to the 'nuts and bolts' of hedge fund analysis and a 'must' for every serious investor.\"Barbara Rupf Bee, Head of Alternative Fund Investment Group, HSBC Private Bank, Switzerland \"An excellent book, providing deep insights into the complex quantitative analysis of hedge funds in the most lucid and intuitive manner. A must-have supplement to Lhabitant's first book dealing with the mystical and fascinating world of hedge funds. Highly recommended!\"Vikas Agarwal, Assistant Professor of Finance, J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University \"Lhabitant has done it again! Whereas most books on hedge funds are nothing more than glorified marketing brochures, Lhabitant's new book tells it how it is in reality. Accessible and understandable but at the same time thorough and critical.\"Harry M. Kat, Ph.D., Professor of Risk Management and Director Alternative Investment Research Centre, Cass Business School, City University \"Lhabitant's latest work on hedge funds yet again delivers on some ambitious promises. Successfully bridging theory and practice in a highly accessible manner, those searching for a thorough yet unintimidating introduction to the quantitative methods of hedge fund analysis will not be disappointed.\"Christopher L. He knows that reflections are no longer passive. Most of all, he knows that whatever lies beyond the Quantum Veil has begun to push back.

When new disturbances appear, and the pattern behind them starts to sharpen, Daniel is forced into another desperate confrontation with forces that do not obey familiar rules. The danger is no longer limited to isolated moments of terror. It is systemic, intelligent, and spreading. Each discovery pulls him further into a conflict shaped by hidden systems, compromised loyalties, and a boundary between realities that may be failing for good.

Around him, Sarah, Mia, Marcus, Carter, and Lisa are drawn deeper into the consequences of what was unleashed. Relationships tighten under pressure, fear mutates into determination, and the cost of knowing the truth becomes harder to bear. What once looked like survival now looks like responsibility.

Blending speculative suspense, emotional consequence, and escalating mystery, The RIFTBORNE Book Two: Shadows of the Quantum Veil expands the series with darker momentum and a wider scope. It is a sequel built for readers who want gripping tension, evolving rules, and a story that keeps widening the crack beneath reality.
",

                "description": "
Washington, 1902. The frontier has thinned into farms, rail lines, and towns that want order more than truth. Harry Tracy has no place left in that new world, yet he refuses to disappear quietly. The law calls him a desperado. The newspapers call him a spectacle. The men hunting him call it duty, even when duty starts to look like something else.

Smoke & Iron follows Tracy through wet timber, hard ground, and frightened households as the chase tightens. A sheriff with a smooth voice and a strict sense of control shapes the pursuit into a public lesson. A wounded man fights for breath while the hunt keeps moving. A woman vanishes into the dark before the net can close. A child watches grown men decide what safety means.

This is a biographical dramatisation written as historical fiction. It draws on public record and period detail, then builds a dramatic story where the record falls silent. The result is a tense, human account of pursuit and survival, told from the mud and lantern light rather than from a distance.

Volume One ends where the night turns, with smoke on the road and iron on Tracy's wrists. He cannot run. He cannot fight. He can only listen for the next sound that will tell him whether the person he cannot reach is still alive.
",

The chase for Harry Tracy has become a public drama played out in telegrams, newspaper columns, and the tightening posture of towns that do not want trouble at their doors.

Tracy keeps moving. He has to. He reads faces and exits, hears danger in the pauses between sentences, and understands the hard mathematics of pursuit. One night of warmth can cost him three days of running. One mistake can bring a dozen rifles to a fence line.

The County as Theatre is the trilogy's pressure cooker. The law adapts. The region hardens. The story turns its gaze on the machinery of capture: the coordination, the fear, the pride, the exhaustion, and the appetite for an ending that will satisfy the public. Tracy's choices grow sharper, then uglier. The longer he runs, the more the world insists on making him a symbol, and the more he resists being pinned to any single meaning.

This is historical fiction inspired by the documented manhunt for Harry Tracy. Where history is incomplete or contested, the narrative imagines plausible private moments to deliver a coherent dramatic arc without losing the grit of the era.

If you want a Western that refuses romance and leans into consequence, Volume Two is where the chase becomes inevitable.
",

Dr Anika Rao, a mycologist known for precision and scepticism, is brought in to identify the organism and advise on containment. What she finds does not fit any known fungal lineage, and it behaves less like a random outbreak and more like a system unfolding.

As patients flood hospitals with brutal respiratory symptoms and strange residues that seem to connect rather than simply grow, Anika pushes for transparency and proper chain of custody. Instead, she meets locked doors, missing samples, rewritten reports, and briefings that contradict field observations. Quarantine measures tighten, but the science is shaped behind closed doors. Anika begins to suspect that containment is only one goal, and that powerful interests are trying to steer what the spores become.

With the city sealed and panic rising, Anika must follow the evidence into places where facts are treated as property and truth is managed like a liability. The organism is adapting. The human response is fracturing. And if she cannot get the real story out, Melbourne may become the proving ground for something far worse than an outbreak.
",

Joseph M. Scriven, an Irish-born preacher and poet, penned these words in 1846 as a heartfelt poem to his mother, who remained in Ireland while he built a new life in Canada. Little did he know that his words of encouragement would one day inspire millions.

This book delves deep into Scriven's journey - from his upbringing in Ireland to the profound tragedies that shaped his faith. Through detailed research, historical insight, and a fresh perspective on Scriven's life, this book uncovers the man behind the hymn and the trials that refined his faith. More than just a history, it is a tribute to the enduring power of prayer and the comfort we can find in Jesus, no matter our burdens.

For those who love hymnody, history, or simply seek encouragement, this book is an inspiring journey into the story of a man whose words still echo in the hearts of believers worldwide.
",

Because time is absent, motion, mass, energy, acceleration, and entropy do not exist in this domain. All entities exist as stable and enduring information. Manifestation occurs instantaneously.

The TSD is understood to arise from the Emptiness (EM), which contains infinite potential. Time is not an absolute ontological entity, but EM contains original information that is unbiased and undivided. When the EM \"differentiates,\" it does not fracture in a destructive sense but unfolds into diverse potential groupings without temporal ordering.

Because of its intrinsic interconnectivity and homogeneity, these innumerable \"fragments\" remain perfectly compatible with each other and with the EM itself, in the sense that one is all and all is one. This compatibility forms a coherent informational system with creative power. Such an order represents what may be called Original Awareness or Omniscience. This awareness serves as the ground of possibility for all structures of the universe. In other words, the universe may be understood as designed or emerging from a unified domain. In religious language, this could be described as a manifestation of God. As a result, TLD is comparable to the metaphysical realm in common terminology

Within this process, however, biased information can arise. Such distortions cannot remain within the timeless domain's purity (the so-called Nirvana or high level of Heaven in religious terminology) and therefore require a separate region where they can be contained and processed. This necessity leads to stratification within the TLD.

Time, therefore, is not the ultimate reality but a mechanism that allows informational errors to be corrected. Over time, velocity, force, and mass become meaningful, enabling the development of neural systems and knowledge. From this process, the dualistic world arises, characterized by birth, death, and suffering. In this sense, what religions call \"creation\" corresponds to the emergence of this TLD.

Accordingly, the physical universe does not arise from absolute EM but from the TLD through cyclic processes of formation (Big Bang), stability, dissolution, and emptiness (black hole). The Big Bang is therefore not an absolute beginning but one phase in a long cosmological cycle, similar to the Buddhist view that the world has no first beginning.

The interface between the TSD and the physical world is the region where karmic consciousness-or what may be called the soul-can be understood as a refined informational structure capable of penetrating matter and connecting to the nervous system through synapses. This interface acts as a mediator between biological life and the metaphysical domain of the TSD. The soul carries evidence of corrected informational distortions in order to reintegrate into the purified TSD; if the correction is incomplete, it may be returned to the physical realm for further refinement.

At this interface, quantum phenomena such as entanglement, superposition, and tunneling may be interpreted as manifestations of informational structures operating across two orthogonal domains, appearing therefore as both particle and wave. The quantum phenomenon in the TLD of the interface is paradoxical because there is only structural information and there is no physical barrier.

Research on the TLD expands the scope of physics and may help explain various natural phenomena that remain poorly understood in medicine and neuroscience-such as acupuncture or certain neuropsychological disorders-while also offering a clearer framework for the insight cultivated through meditation.
",

                "description": "
For Chinese couples and families building a life in the United States, the intersection of love, law, and cultural expectations can be complex. \"Marriage and Divorce in America: What Every Chinese Couple Needs to Know About Property and Rights\" is an essential guide designed to demystify the American legal landscape surrounding marriage and its dissolution. Authored by Hao Li, Esq., a practicing attorney licensed in Florida and Minnesota, this book translates intricate legal concepts into practical, culturally-aware advice.

This comprehensive 12-chapter guide begins by addressing foundational questions: Is your Chinese marriage automatically recognized in the U.S.? What are the critical differences between community property and equitable distribution states? From there, it delves into the proactive steps every couple should consider, offering sensitive guidance on broaching the topic of a prenuptial agreement within a Chinese cultural context and outlining what makes such an agreement legally sound.

The book provides crucial insights into managing marital assets, highlighting common pitfalls like the commingling of separate property, handling financial support from parents, and understanding how retirement accounts are divided. In today's digital age, it also covers the unique challenges of digital assets, including cryptocurrencies, stock options, and intellectual property.

Should a relationship face challenges, this guide becomes an invaluable resource. It walks you through the divorce process-from mediation and collaborative law to litigation-and explains the importance of financial disclosure, including the role of digital evidence like WeChat messages. Key chapters are dedicated to spousal support (alimony), child custody, and child support, with specific warnings about the legal risks of taking children out of the country without consent.

Recognizing the unique pressures on immigrant families, the book tackles cultural collisions, such as parental intervention and the limited enforceability of Chinese divorce agreements in American courts. It also addresses critical issues in transnational marriages, including immigration status concerns and the recognition of judgments between the U.S. and China.

Finally, the book looks beyond the divorce decree, covering essential post-divorce steps like Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) and updating beneficiaries. It concludes with forward-looking strategies for all couples, such as postnuptial agreements, trusts, and regular legal check-ups, empowering you to protect your family's future.

Written with empathy and deep professional expertise, this book does not guarantee any specific legal outcome but aims to equip you with the knowledge to make informed decisions, ask the right questions, and seek appropriate professional counsel. It is the trusted companion for any Chinese individual or couple seeking to understand and protect their rights and property in America.
",
